Happy Chat - Mental Health Peer Support Group
Provided by: Happy Chat
Weekly on Tuesday
Happy Chat is self-funded. We raise our own money through community generosity and grants. Enormous gratitude to Support Groups Qld, Stanthorpe Training Centre, Apple and Grape Festival Association, Valley Helping Hands, Lions Club of Stanthorpe and James Lister MP for continued support. Happy Chat is run by volunteers. All monies raised goes to providing frontline support and advocacy for people who are having a tough time with their mental health. We aim to fill the gaps in mental health services and in doing so, provide the Stanthorpe community with an innovative and award winning service.
About
Every Tuesday from 10.30-12noon a group of people living with mental health issues get together to share a meal, a chat and a few laughs at the Goods Shed at WhistleStop Heritage and Community Garden. We are all about connecting, building friendships and creating safe places for people to be themselves and seek help if needed. It’s very casual, no referral required and zero cost. We believe that everyone has the right to live a good life and Happy Chat peer support group is one step in the matrix of wellness. It’s so much easier talking about mental illness to someone who has been there - everyone at Happy Chat has a living experience of mental illness. There is no judgement, no pressure and no expectations on participants. Happy Chat is bringing humanity back into mental health services.
