About Raeandwill
Raeandwill is where humour and connection collide. raeandwill is a multi-award winning performance duo consisting of multidisciplinary artists Rae Colquhoun-Fairweather and Will Bartolo. With extensive experience in physical theatre, stand-up, improv, acting, clown, theatre-making, mime and production – raeandwill strive to create impactful, heartfelt, joyful and beautiful experiences for audiences through a range of mediums.
Their premiere work for theatre, Masterpiece, won the Festival Directors Award, The San Diego Tour Ready Award and Best Emerging Artist at Sydney Fringe Festival in 2024, and was nominated for the Take A Chance on Adelaide award at Adelaide Fringe in 2025. Fish Boy, their next work for theatre, is currently in development.
On how Masterpiece came to life, “[raeandwill] sought to uncover the possibilities of simplicity by exploring how long we could sustain a single action while still evoking wonder.” Our aim is to ignite joy by drawing on a profound sense of patience and play to craft a truly uplifting experience. Labelled by many as a “modern day talkie”, Masterpiece fills a rare gap in Australia’s theatre scene, where mime is scarce. Drawing on our day job as professional hospital clowns, the style of clowning in Masterpiece is anchored in patience, empathy and audience empowerment. Masterpiece carves space for pure joy and connection offering a rare opportunity for catharsis in a world where communication is often overcomplicated.
About
No words. One artwork. Two clowns. Tis’ the grand unveiling ceremony at the Masterpiece Gallery and it’s finally time to unveil the latest, most prestigious new artwork. But unfortunately, there’s nothing to unveil. Only two arrows pointing to exactly where the supposed masterpiece should be hung. Enter two art handlers, dancing with said masterpiece, entirely unaware of their lateness and the fact that they’re being watched. The simple task of hanging up a piece of art quickly becomes a hilariously drawn out portrayal of persistence, partnership and performance anxiety.
Masterpiece at Tuggeranong Arts Centre promises a theatrical experience like no other. The fusion of mime and live music invites a broad spectrum of audiences – of all ages and backgrounds – into a space where connection is made not through words, but through presence. In a world often consumed by haste and noise, it offers a rare space for simplicity and shared joy. This is complemented by a playful critique of the art world, the humour of common workplace dynamics, and the ageless allure of slapstick.
